Axis Storage ships every container we sell — the freight is already inside the price published on the product page, in the cart, and on the order confirmation. No "call for shipping" placeholder. No third-party freight invoice mailed later. No surprise fuel adder.
Where we ship
Free delivery across the contiguous United States. That covers the 48 contiguous US states with a $0.00 freight line on the invoice. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the USVI, Guam, and international destinations require port-of-entry coordination and are quoted on request — email sales@axisstoragesolutionsllc.shop with the destination ZIP or port before placing the order.
Handling & transit times
Handling window: 2–3 business days from cleared payment. That window covers depot pull, inspection, paperwork, and carrier dispatch — not transit miles.
Transit window: 5–7 business days once the unit hands off to the carrier. Reefers, custom-modified builds, and coast-to-coast routes (e.g. Phoenix to a Northeast ZIP) typically add 1–3 days on top. A dispatched-from-depot notification with the carrier's ETA goes out the day the unit leaves the yard.
Delivery appointment: The carrier phones 24–48 hours ahead to lock a delivery window. An authorized signer must be on site to take the bill of lading and accept the container.
Delivery site requirements
Standard drops are made by tilt-bed truck. Specialty placements use a flatbed plus knuckle-boom (Hiab) crane. Either way the site has to clear these minimums:
- Run-up length: 60 feet of straight clearance for a 20ft drop, 100 feet for a 40ft or 40HC drop.
- Surface: Asphalt, concrete, or compacted gravel that holds a loaded carrier. Soft soil, recent rain on dirt, gravel under 4" deep, and grades steeper than 10° are non-starters.
- Overhead: Nothing under 16 feet across the approach — branches, eaves, signs, awnings, and especially low-hanging power lines.
- Width: 12 feet of clear width down the entire approach, more in any turn.
- Turning room: Trucks need a 50 ft outside turning radius to maneuver. Gated communities, cul-de-sacs, and tight industrial parks may need pre-coordination with property management.

Failed delivery, re-delivery & dry-runs
If the driver arrives and the site does not meet the requirements above, or no signer is available, the carrier returns the container to the depot. A dry-run / re-delivery fee is then passed through at carrier cost — typically $450–$950 depending on distance — and quoted in writing before the second attempt is booked. You may also elect depot pickup at any point and skip the re-delivery entirely.
Local permitting (zoning, HOA, building, right-of-way) is the buyer's responsibility. Axis Storage cannot pull permits on a buyer's behalf, but we will hold dispatch on request while you finish the paperwork.
Inspection & acceptance
Walk the container with the driver before signing the bill of lading. Check the floor (no soft spots, no rot), the doors (open, close, gaskets seal), the lock rods (swing freely, cams seat), the weld seams, and any cosmetic damage. Note anything that concerns you in writing on the BOL — that is the moment damage-on-arrival claims open. An unannotated signature is treated as acceptance in the condition described on the product page.
Title transfer
Title and risk of loss both transfer to the buyer the instant the delivery acceptance form is signed. The bill of sale and any depot-issued documents (CSC plate photos, grading sheets, PTI printouts for reefers) are emailed to the address on the order within 1 business day.
